What’s special about Allay?
Allay doesn't use just any green light. It emits a precise narrow band of natural light discovered by migraine researchers at Harvard Medical School to be gentler on your eyes than everyday light. But the magic doesn’t end there. Unlike a phone or computer screen, there is no color mixing or potential interference involved - it’s just pure, flicker-free light you can’t get anywhere else.
How do I use Allay light?
It’s best for Allay to be the only light you see. That means that you should try to block all other light from windows, overhead lights, and screens as much as possible.
How long can I use Allay?
Spend as long as you’d like with your Allay light. Be sure to use Allay for at least 30 minutes. For the full soothing experience, however, spend two hours or more in its glow.
What kind of light does Allay produce?
Whenever you are in light – outdoor or indoor – your eyes take in bands of light from the entire spectrum of light (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet). Allay emits only one very precise narrow band of natural light from within that spectrum. That means that when you’re using your lamp, you’re not seeing any light that your eyes don’t already take in every day; you’re merely seeing one tiny part of it.
Do I have to have light sensitivity or headaches to enjoy the light?
People are trying Allay for all kinds of reasons - from reducing stress and anxiety to helping them fall asleep - and Prof. Burstein is working on further research. Where do I put my Allay light?
You can place it on your desk or work surface with or without the shade. Or place it up high to light the room. The freedom is yours!
Is there an easier way to turn on my original Allay Lamp?

How do I use the shade that comes with the Allay Lamp?
The shade is designed to direct the light where you need it most. Just snap it on and rotate it as needed to illuminate your space.
Why is there a “regular” light mode?
When you’re not feeling sensitive to light, the Allay Lamp can be a great standalone light. Use it as a reading lamp. Use it during a storm when your power is out. Bring it with you as a hands-free flashlight. It’s there for you in every situation.
How long does Allay stay charged?
When fully charged, your Allay Lamp can shine for up to 32 hours. When it does start running low, just plug it in and keep using it as it charges.
How do I know when the light needs to be charged?
There is a small blue dot near the Micro-USB charger on the Allay Lamp that will start to blink when the lamp is running low on battery. And when the charge is almost empty, the lamp itself slowly blinks on and off.
There is a small green light on the front of the Allay Desk Light. When your light is low on battery, it will change colors until it is recharged.
What are the dimensions of the Allay Lamp?
The Allay Lamp is designed to be portable so that you can bring it wherever you go! The dimensions of the box are 90mm x 230mm x 130mm, and the lamp weighs about 1.5 lbs.
What comes with the Allay lights?
Every Allay Lamp comes with an adjustable shade and a microUSB charging cable, and the Desk Light comes with a USB-C charging cable. If you need a wall adapter, just let us know at help@allaylamp.com.
How long will it take for my lamp to arrive?
Depending on where you live, you should receive your lamp in 3-10 business days.
When does my upgraded shipping arrive?
Our daily shipments go out each business day at 1:30pm EST.
For Overnight shipping, if you place your order before 1:30, your Allay should arrive the next business day. If you order after 1:30 or on a non-business day, it should arrive in two business days.
For 2nd Day shipping, if you place your order before 1:30, your Allay should arrive in two business days. If you order after 1:30 or on a non-business day, it should arrive in three business days.
Can I track my shipment?
Yes, you’ll receive a tracking link in your email once your order has been shipped.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept most major credit and debit cards. We also accept Apple and Google Pay, as well as PayPal.
What if I don’t like my Allay light?
First, please make sure you’ve given yourself at least 30 minutes with it as your only light source. Ideally, give yourself two hours. We think you’ll be glad you did.
